Brody Lees had arrived a day before his case worker had told him he'd needed to be there. There was really nothing left for him to do at home, and he was happy in a small way to be away from Susan and Arlee. They hadn't really spoken to him much since the arrest...
He stopped ruminating long enough to gawk at the Mansion he'd started pulling into in his massive old beat-up truck. Holy shit, what had he signed up for? Parking in front of the door, Brody lit a cigarette and just stared at the building for a few moments, positive that any second some stodgy yankee was gonna come barreling out of the nice house and inform him there'd been some mistake.
He glanced from the address he'd been given to the door, and back and forth a few time. No, it seemed right. Brody walked towards the front door and knocked a few times, and passed the time before an answer trying to figure out if he was excited for someone to open the door, or dreading it...

"Hello! Are you a new student here?" he asked, his British accent still intact, despite being in the mansion for more than a month. "My name is Dolemeck Night, it is a pleasure to meet you!"
His hand was extended, and there was a happy smile on his face.

"Broderick Lees. Uh, Brody."
Brody spared a look around the inside of the Mansion, then looked back sheepishly.
"I don't mean to be rude, but uh, I just keep expecting a Kubrick movie to break out behind you. This place is bigger than the neighborhood I used to live in."

He began to wheel himself about in his chair, moving to the side so Brody could walk in a bit more.
"This school is a non-smoking area, unfortunately. New York State law and all. So you may wish to hide those... err... then again, Professor Logan can smell them out."

"Half the size puts you closer in the ballpark than me, boy, I'll tell you that much now..." Brody took a moment to pick up on the mention of a professor, and turned back to the Englishman, "So I am in the right place? Some kind of secondary school? I tried to keep up with what my court appointed was telling me but, I'll be honest, I can't understand lawyers or doctors when they talk half the time..."

He started to guide Brody down one of the halls, heading for Headmistress Ramsey's office.
"We have a lake, a pool, lots, and lots of forest areas, a gym, a medical center on premise... which Rose says they should just name a wing of it after me."

"I, uh...I'm pretty new, so I have no idea if this is crass, but, uh...did you do that with your brain?"

He had stopped wheeling himself about to be able to talk to Bordy more directly.
"Everyone is different here and has a different "gift"."

"Buddy, the brain-lifting thing? That's a gift. The only thing, uh, 'different' I can tell about me is getting my ass kicked and still getting up after most folk have the sense to stay down." He didn't mention dropping the engine block out of a Chevy with an angry fist. Didn't seem relevant. He didn't want to weird the guy out. Dolemeck seemed pretty cool...and, if Brody was being honest, probably a lot better at handling 'weird' than he gave first appeared, with how openly he did the, uh, brain-moving thing he'd forgotten the word for. Maybe Brody just didn't want to talk about it yet...

He sighed, turning his chair to the side.
"I was in a coma for a month after, and when I woke up, was told I would never walk again. And if I did, it would only be a matter of time before I was in a chair. Well, I learned to walk with leg braces, and recently... I lost the feeling in my legs. It just went like that." He snapped his fingers. "The next time you think you do not have something "special" , I will remind you that you do."

Brody looked around a little, "Sorry to hear that, Dolemeck. Really, I am. And, I think I get at least a little of what you mean," Brody still wasn't entirely sold on optimism and mutation, "But I gotta ask, just to be sure...'daft' means 'dumb', right?"

Brody was pretty sure he couldn't see the end of the hallway they'd turned down. It was going to take some getting used to being here, "So, okay, apparently this is Mutant School. So, uh, what does that mean anyhow?"
no subject
"Ultimately, what we do when we graduate is our choice. But we are taught that our gifts should be used for the greater good. To not abuse them, or use them to harm others. We also "exercise" with our powers in the "Danger Room" . It has programs built to help focus on your strengths and improve your weaknesses... or so I am told."

"...huh. Killer Basement. Okay..." Was it any weirder than anything else he'd dealt with since hopping out of his truck. Yes, yes it was. But He didn't want to bother Dolemeck with the nervous breakdown he was likely to have at the end of the tour. "So, classes and murder rooms and brain-moving stretching aside...what's it like here? I'd say it's weird we haven't run into other students or professors but, um, they may have gotten lost in here..." Were they lost? Brody didn't like being this far from the nearest acceptable smoking location, but he was pretty sure the cool English kid wasn't lost.

He took a turn around a corner, stopping in-front of a door with a couch to the side of it.
"This is Headmistress Ramsey's office."

Brody looked at the door, and did his best not to look intimidated by a large flat piece of wood. He turned back to Dolemeck with a large smile, "Hey, thanks for the heads-up on all of this. I appreciate the quick tour."
