Brody Lees had arrived a day before his case worker had told him he'd needed to be there. There was really nothing left for him to do at home, and he was happy in a small way to be away from Susan and Arlee. They hadn't really spoken to him much since the arrest...

He stopped ruminating long enough to gawk at the Mansion he'd started pulling into in his massive old beat-up truck. Holy shit, what had he signed up for? Parking in front of the door, Brody lit a cigarette and just stared at the building for a few moments, positive that any second some stodgy yankee was gonna come barreling out of the nice house and inform him there'd been some mistake.

He glanced from the address he'd been given to the door, and back and forth a few time. No, it seemed right. Brody walked towards the front door and knocked a few times, and passed the time before an answer trying to figure out if he was excited for someone to open the door, or dreading it...

"Are you daft? I wished I had such an ability! It would certainly have prevented... this." He motions to his legs and the chair he was in. "Got hit by an impaired driver. I shoved everyone else away with my mind, only to end up taking the brunt of the car. I'm told that I was pinned between the car and a brick wall."

He sighed, turning his chair to the side.

"I was in a coma for a month after, and when I woke up, was told I would never walk again. And if I did, it would only be a matter of time before I was in a chair. Well, I learned to walk with leg braces, and recently... I lost the feeling in my legs. It just went like that." He snapped his fingers. "The next time you think you do not have something "special" , I will remind you that you do."

Brody listened, scratching at the stubble on his face. Guy had a point. He'd been hit by a truck that night, the night that started all this, and all that had happened was him bouncing a few hundred yards in the opposite direction. He had never really stopped to process that, beyond how weird it had been that he'd, well, bounced. Never stopped to think that he really should've ended up in the ground that night...

Brody looked around a little, "Sorry to hear that, Dolemeck. Really, I am. And, I think I get at least a little of what you mean," Brody still wasn't entirely sold on optimism and mutation, "But I gotta ask, just to be sure...'daft' means 'dumb', right?"

"It means silly or foolish." He managed to smile again, turning around and going back to leading Brody down the halls. "Oh relax! I would never call you "dumb"."

Brody waves it off as he follows Dolemeck, "Nah, it ain't like I ain't kinda dumb, all things being equal..."

Brody was pretty sure he couldn't see the end of the hallway they'd turned down. It was going to take some getting used to being here, "So, okay, apparently this is Mutant School. So, uh, what does that mean anyhow?"

"Well, aside from your typical studies at a normal school, we also get training on how to use our powers, and how not to." He stopped wheeling again to turn around and look at Brody.

"Ultimately, what we do when we graduate is our choice. But we are taught that our gifts should be used for the greater good. To not abuse them, or use them to harm others. We also "exercise" with our powers in the "Danger Room" . It has programs built to help focus on your strengths and improve your weaknesses... or so I am told."

"I think the courts are in charge of what I do..." Brody mumbled to himself, but his face went from 'dejected' to 'alarmed' as Dolemeck continued talking, "What the shit is a 'Danger Room'? Cause it sounds like a pretty cool band..."

"It is in the sub levels of the school. Some kind of room that can produce any sort of life or death simulation. I only heard of it, never seen it with me own eyes." He rubbed the back of his head. "I am more or less a sitting duck as I am. So I train separately from everyone else with my powers for the time being."

...Brody was not prepared to be told about a killer basement, and stopped in his tracks as Dolemeck continued moving.

"...huh. Killer Basement. Okay..." Was it any weirder than anything else he'd dealt with since hopping out of his truck. Yes, yes it was. But He didn't want to bother Dolemeck with the nervous breakdown he was likely to have at the end of the tour. "So, classes and murder rooms and brain-moving stretching aside...what's it like here? I'd say it's weird we haven't run into other students or professors but, um, they may have gotten lost in here..." Were they lost? Brody didn't like being this far from the nearest acceptable smoking location, but he was pretty sure the cool English kid wasn't lost.

"Most of the other students are in class." He pointed out. "The School is rather large, and you will not find many students about the foyer during the day. I was only there because I had left the infirmary, on me way to the library for study hall."

"Infirmary? You feelin alright?" It was a kneejerk question Brody almost immediately regretted. He'd noticed the wheelchair, obviously, and Dolemeck had mentioned the accident. Brody cleared his throat, "Sorry, I, uh, don't mean to pry or anything..."

"I am feeling much better, now." He smiled again. "I am not contagious and it is alright. You are not prying or asking me anything that has not been asked before."

He took a turn around a corner, stopping in-front of a door with a couch to the side of it.

"This is Headmistress Ramsey's office."

"This my stop?"

Brody looked at the door, and did his best not to look intimidated by a large flat piece of wood. He turned back to Dolemeck with a large smile, "Hey, thanks for the heads-up on all of this. I appreciate the quick tour."

"If you need anymore help, just let me know! It makes me feel useful about here." He continued to look cheerful. "Do not worry, Headmistress Ramsey is not that bad. She really cares about us."

"I appreciate it, man. And anyone named 'Headmistress' doesn't sound like someone I'd normally get along with..." Brody gave another sidelong glance at the door.

"Well, she is the headmistress of the school. Her real name is Rachel Summers Ramsey, but we have to call her by her respected title of Headmistress or Mrs. Ramsey." He grinned. "You are really nervous about this, huh?"

Brody shrugged, "This place is just one big fancy school, and...I ain't really the best in the way of students." He'd bore Dolemeck with his whole story later. Right now, Brody just wanted to find out what the whole deal with this weird place was. He turned to the door, then back to Dolemeck, "Should I just, uh...knock?"

"Just knock." He knocked on the door for Brody, then started to wheel himself off. "I will see you soon!"
